CFD - Gate Rudder Impact Analyses

For these projects, Internationally renowned clients requested NAS to investigate the performance of multiple commercial ships with the installed Gate Rudder technology, an energy saving and manoeuvring device. Therefore, numerical analyses and CFD techniques were used to analyse and compare the power requirements of ships with a conventional rudder as well as with the Gate Rudder technology to deduce the impact. Moreover, detailed hydrodynamic analyses and post-processing techniques allowed in-house experts to provide feedback to fine-tune and optimise the Gate Rudder design to the case study vessel.
