55M Superyacht major refit
Detailed design and fabrication engineering of a 55m existing yacht stern extension, aft upper deck extensions and new forward bulwark.
We cater for a wide range of engineering expertise, to offer a complete engineering package, whether it being for new build designs, refit projects or specialist engineering services.
Due to the complex nature and interaction of the various disciplines when engineering a vessel, we strive to integrate all the streams into a single workspace. This is done through both our project planning and management approach as well by utilising a common engineering design platform in 3D to ensure control and no surprises during project execution.
Our team have had the privilege to lead various reputable marine stakeholders through the different development stages, from sketch to production, helping them convert abstract ideas and desires into marine assets that are functional, technically sound and beautiful.
We cover the initial structural design for Class approval up to the production of assembly, construction and working drawings for yard use. Through the design process we make use of latest industry standards and rules and avail ourselves of Finite Element Simulations where necessary.
By drawing on our in-house know-how and through class approved rule verification software we ensure that structural design packages for a variety of new build and refit projects are delivered in time and to the expected standards.
A design for production approach is possible and this is implemented through our CADMATIC marine design software package, providing a detailed 3D model of the vessel structure and components. The output is a highly detailed design package which can be handed over to a shipyard for production.
We carry out stability assessments at various stages of a project from evaluation to final verification. All assessments are carried out in line with IMO Codes and Regulations as well as other National Instruments which may be applicable. Custom cases for intact large angle stability simulations for vessels engaged in towage operations or lifting operations are similarly covered.
Verification of residual stability after damage and characteristics of a vessel under specified damage conditions is carried out using either deterministic or probabilistic methods depending on the case and relative regulatory regime.
The detailed design and specification of shipboard systems represents a crucial stage in the engineering design of a project and requires the input of the various marine engineering disciplines involved. The outcome is critical to ensure feasibility of the design and project proposals and requires close interaction with third party suppliers as well as effective collaboration between the client and the design team itself.
The modelling of the engine room and technical spaces allows for optimal disposition of the systems and caters for their interaction. The system routing design allows for reduction in possible clashes and improving system efficiencies by minimising flow losses.
Positioning of main engines, reduction gear and shaft lines carried out in close co-operation with the design team to ensure consistent approach in line with structural and hull design requirements specific to the project.
We deliver a variety of ‘as-built’ plans typically required in the marine industry. These include existing system schematics, fire and safety plans and general as-fitted plans for arrangements and construction.
